Alloy 42 is a low swell alloy, very similar to Invar 36. It has a low expansion rate as low as about 300 ℃. This alloy is primarily used as a strip for semiconductor lead frames in integrated circuits and bimetallic strips, and can also be used for aluminum oxide and glass bulb envelopes in ceramic and metal seals to metal seals.
